Monotype workshop with Sian Barlow @ SPW

This is an exhibition of prints made at a recent workshop experimenting with reduction monotype. These are one-off prints, made by building up colour layers. The emphasis in the workshop was on exploring colour. The artists made different compositions by layering up colours, using paper and plant materials(such as leaves) to make simple stencil shapes.

No previous expertise is needed so it is a good entry level workshop to do as a starting point for printmaking.

There are a wide range of ‘found’ objects that can be used in this process as well as hand cut stencils. Dried and pressed plant forms are particularly effective and make striking images when used with colour layers.
